año nuevo - part deux.

Here you can find the second part of the list. I hope you all finish 2007 with a big bang that will last in your memory until at least mid January! Also make sure to visit all the good parties and contribute those artists by buying their goods;
Thanks for visiting the blog this year.

10. Architecture In Helsinki - Places Like This
There are many words that can describe this masterpiece. I choose one: pleasurableness! All the songs are so much fun, you feel like it is you duty to sing a long. And it gives you a chance to scream or whatever. It may appear to you as one chaos, but I truly believe there is a cohesion.

Architecture In Helsinki - Like it or not

9. AIR - Pocket Symphony
And then again a soft, mellow easer. Which totally doesn't mean it's bad! AIR has found a way to make poppy songs that are quiet and simply devine. You could easily sit on your bed and turn it on and listen to it for hours. They are true story tellers. It features some nice collaborations. It's a shame that "The duelist" was only on the Japanese edition, so here it is.

AIR - The duelist ft. Jarvis Cocker & Charlotte Gainsbourg

8. Au Revoir Simone - The Bird Of Music
This group was very high on the wanted-to-see-list. And I managed to do so! They were playing at a free festival and I thought what the hell. The concert was worth a hundred bucks! Some people may find this too optimistic, soft or pop but to me it fits just perfectly. I even talked with the girls and they signed the album; they are so kind. And they make great music.

. Kate Nash - Made Of Bricks
Maybe one if the biggest things of 2007? Sold out concerts, but wait let's just move it to a bigger venue! I think this happened a lot to our shy, little Katie. And whenever she finished with one of her lovely and oh so catchy songs, she thanks the audience with a soft 'Thank you'. During the songs there isn't one glimpse of shyness. Is it a act? Who knows. It's still great.

6. Róisín Murphy - Overpowered
This was a late devoloper for me. But still it deserves its high spot on the list. I still listen a lot to it and it doesn't seem to bore me just yet. The funny thing about her is that you cannot put a year on it. If you never heard her previous album and you would listen it now, you could easily think it came out somewhere around this year. Just like this album: timeless! This unreleased track, co-produced by Calvin Harris, could've fit perfectly on the album.

Róisín Murphy - Off and on

5. LCD Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver
Although it came out early this year, I could never forget it. It is so meaningful! There are some real emotional songs on it, and the voice of James Murphy is really enjoyable. You can also hear that he sings his own words. You just notice it. Also the changes in speed make it special.

4. Feist - The Reminder
Feist's albums always have to grow on me. But when they do, they stay in your mind forever. It doesn't feature as much catchy songs as her last album, but you can find songs that are beautiful just the way they are. And you can have people like Boys Noize or Chromeo to smoothen things up, still if they are untouched the are the best.

3. New Young Pony Club - Fantastic Playroom
Straight out of the nineties, you would think. You're wrong. The group only exists for 1 or 2 years, but they give it to you like they were together for 11 years. If their next album is as hot as this one, I could see them get a very high status in the business.

New Young Pony Club - Grey

2. Boys Noize - Oi Oi Oi
One of the more danceable albums in the list. I never liked much about Justice, and yeah Boys Noize was thé hype of 2007. You could hear everybody trying to copy him and get a hit. Critics may say it is all one big blur and it all sounds alike, I can imagine that. However, true dance fans don't care about that. If you listen to other dance albums, you experience the same thing (think of Digitalism). And if you then wanna discuss the main winner of this genre, then in my honest opinion Alex Ridha is a true winner.

Boys Noize - Oh!

1. M.I.A. - Kala
All the albums I've mentioned are great and all that. But there can only be one winner! And she wins with a such a big lead. This albums contains so much power and beauty. Kala, named after M.I.A.'s mother, has so many messages, and if you haven't decoded them yet. You better do.

M.I.A. - Down river
