Thomas A. Edison (1847 - 1931)
The art is by Dash Snow (found through the blog of a friend which you all should check out!). This piece is very nice, but he also has some more extreme pieces which I'm not a huge fan of immediately.
The music business is booming, new tracks and albums keep coming up and most of them are very fresh and unique. That's why I found it hard to make a selection so there are a few.
Martin Solveig - C'est la vie (Goose remix)
Although Goose itself can appear a bit boring nowadays, their remixes are seemingly good. Some songs are even worked up so much that you could never guess what song it is. This remix stays rather close to the original, but is still very nice.
Late Of The Pier - Broken (Portasound remix)
This band is growing on me more and more. They are only in their teens but still they have managed to make good quality songs. This remix is slightly better than the one on the Kitsune Compilation (which I believe is made by the band itself?).
The Gossip - Yr mangled heart (Si McEvoy Trash Fash remix)
I recently bought the vinyl, since I couldn't find it any sooner. The Gossip is truely one of my favorites, Beth is one of the best singers I know. 'Yr mangled heart' is just so right, the lyrics, the melody, the little oohooh's. I become happy everytime I hear it. (Even though the lyrics aren't that chipper).
Thieves Like Us - Drugs in my body (J.A.B. remix)
This is one of the winners from the remix competition, I reckon. The actual winner also has a nice remix, but this one has more power. Also look out for the remix that The Shoes made.
Don Rimini - Let me back up (Crookers remix)
If someone doesn't know the Crookers, I think this is one of the songs that describes their style the best. If I was told right, MSTRKRFT has sampled this in their latest track VUVUVU.
Right now my thoughts go out to the weekend, which I hope will be splendid, but I'll make sure of that.
The year just started and everything seemed to work out perfectly. However, things turned out to get a bit stressed, but now everything is almost out of the way and we can enter a new era of partying and travelling. The partying will be this weekend with Larry Tee, Franz & Shape, Joost van Bellen and hopefully next week with the phenomenal and extremely talented Crookers at a glow-in-the-dark special. It's almost like they are in a remix competition with the Chip. In the spring break I have a trip planned to London! So if you have any must-sees, please let me know in advance.
