!!! (Chk Chk Chk) is back from gone with a new album that isn't supposed to be out until August but of course the blogosphere cannot wait that long and have to have albums sooner. The record company will probably not mind as they are responsible of the album not leaking and now they receive a bit of free promo. I always wonder who leaks the album on internet. I mean the band itself and the studio have a copy and maybe some office executives but the blog mailout has not yet been made.
Anyhow, it's out and it's good fun! In a way it is a real !!! album, but there are some new touches. It's released via Warp Records, but I feel there is still a real DFA touch to it. It sounds a bit like Black Dice in a full setting. Delia Gonzales & Gavin Russom with a full backing. The band took a few years making a new album between Sacramento, Berlin and NY after the death of their drummer. I remember seeing them in concert once and I was a bit shocked about the show around their music. Band members were throwing beer bottles, headbanging while wearing their T-shirts on their heads; a real Rock 'n' Roll kinda thing actually. With their 2007 album and this one I feel they really have found their place in the scene and can become a true entity.
