garden of eden

I first came across Cobblestone Jazz listening to one of Shir Khan's early mix sets. 'Dump truck' was professionally mixed with pop tunes and had a nice result. They don't really do short radio tracks, but long extensive songs ideally for fashion shows. Hence the comparisson to Heartthrob. The new album has a general feel to it (as most albums) and the two that stand out are 'Fiesta' and 'Cromagnon man'. The first one of the two is a modern, twitchy track with African echoing vocals, or so it seems. I believe that if this becomes a single it would get worldwide attention, if remix treated by popular DJ's. The latter is a complex track that would need all full attention from the three members in a live performance. I think the track is most coordinating with the album name 'The Modern Deep Left Quartet', a very clever album name if you ask me. But wait isn't this a ménage à trois? No, they have asked a friend to join forces and give that extra bit of spice to what could become the next Juan Maclean.
